In this work sample, participants are evaluated on tasks wherein they use a computer in combination with a CNC lathe.  Participants are provided with a piece of aluminum stock, which they mount into the lathe; select appropriate CNC computer commands to manipulate the aluminum stock in order to replicate the prototype, resembling a chess piece.  Tasks involve setting up the CNC lathe; facing; parts design and parts manufacturing.
